The e-Prescription is a convenient and secure solution for both patients and medical professionals. It allows doctors to issue documents electronically and monitor therapy, while enabling patients to conveniently and quickly collect prescribed medications from any pharmacy at their preferred time.

It allows for the digital transfer of information about prescribed medications from the doctor to the pharmacist and other institutions, such as the National Health Fund. This is not only convenient and safe for patients but also for doctors.

Issuing an e-prescription:

• takes less time than issuing a paper prescription,
• allows doctors to dedicate more time to their patients
• enables control over reimbursement and the correctness of medical actions.

In Poland, e-Prescription has been mandatory since January 2020.

Patients can receive e-prescriptions without the need to leave their homes and can fulfill them based on a four-digit PIN code received via SMS, as a PDF in an email, or as a QR code. All issued e-prescriptions are available on the Internet Patient Account allowing patients to check the dosage of prescribed medication or read its leaflet at any time. Doctors can monitor the course of treatment by checking whether patients are collecting their prescribed medications.
